Gentle Giant / Re: Gentle Giant Mini-Busts
« on: August 3, 2009, 05:09 AM »
Hey folks, thought I'd spread the word. As some might know over at the Rebelscum and GentleGiantCollectors.com forums, VinylSquirrel (who is an employee of Gentle Giant Ltd.) has been appearing regularly and answering questions and stuff.

After the Republic Commandos were announced and word was sent out by GG about how they were going to be distributed, many people were worried. Worried that this might turn into another Clone Commander 5-pack debacle. I had started a thread to talk about possible suggestions on how the Republic Commandos might be sold to avoid the same issues that we had with the 5-pack 2 years ago.

You can read about it HERE. The thread has turned into a very unofficial pettition for GG to change the way that they are gonna handle the sale or pre-sale of the Republic Commando busts.

If you agree with this suggestion or have another one you think is better please feel free to go over and post.

There are a total of 200 4-packs that GG will sell (besides all the individuals that will be for sale through GG and other distributors). The "petition" is up to 64 people and that is just from Rebelscum members. I KNOW there are more Gentle Giant fans than just the ones at Rebelscum. I think it be neat to reach a number of 200 or higher. Gentle Giant has not promised anything but I think it would tell them something that they couldn't ignore....the fans want a system that makes sense.

Hopefully all "site politics aside" people will be willing to put that aside to help have their voice heard in one place where we know a GG rep will see it for sure.

P.S. This message doesn't represent any views of Rebelscum or any of it's staff. I am just a member of the forums trying to spread the word.

Yakface is awesome. He is supposed to the the PG member exclusive.

Actually I think it was reported that it might be this years Holiday Exclusive....like last years Holiday Cody. I just hope they don't put any holiday accessories that can't be removed. I am sure many people will want to display him as he appears in the movie....not in red, green and white or something like that.

Other Collectibles / GG Blog is back! Open plea to all of us.....
« on: April 18, 2008, 10:28 PM »
Ok, folks.......it seems GG has brought the blog posting ability back. I'm excited and scared remembering how it went last time.

I think that the blog would be a very good thing for us to "communicate" with GG and them with us. I know in the past things have not gone the way many of us would have liked and I am among those that have been a bit discouraged by the way things have been looking when it comes to GG but this is a good thing. This brings me hope. More than most things they have done in the past, this gives me hope that they might be trying to turn a new leaf.

I am not counting my eggs yet but it is a step in the right direction.

Now, the main reason I wanted to post this was to make an open plea to all Premier Guild Members out there who plan on taking part of this feature. We need to do our part and show GG that it was a good idea to re-open the blogs for us to post in. By this I mean that we need to conduct ourselves in a respectful manner towards others, their posts, their ideas, their points of view and GG and their staff.  I am not saying that you shouldn't say anything bad if there is some thing you don't like. But I am saying that we need to be responsible and do it in an appropriate manner. We need to be respectful.

If we start acting like kids, insulting each other and GG or their employees (just like things were just before they took things down the 1st time) we are telling GG that this is a bad idea and nothing good will come of it. That they might as well not even bother cause we don't want to take advantage of it.

On the other hand, if we all use this accordingly....little by little, GG might use it more and more.

I hope this made sense and it wasn't too bad a rant or read. It's just something that I felt very strongly about when the blog was first up and it made me mad to see it go cause it was something that had such potential and was ruined by a few inmature jerks. They ruined it for the rest of us.  i want to try to help so we don't see that happen again.

Thanks
Rod

Gentle Giant / Re: Clone Wars Maquettes Yoda

I received two Ikea Detlof glass display cabinets for X-mas and am planning on showcasing my animated maquette collection in them.  They were a pain to put together, but the aesthetic effect is very nice and the quality cannot be beat for twice the price.  The Detloff glass shelving does seem sturdy, but I guess I'm concerned that one of the top shelves will break leading to financial and emotional destruction below.  Ikea web-site says these will hold up to 13 pounds, and that seems a tad wimpy for two to three maquettes per shelf.  Does anyone have any experience with these?  I am considering reinforcing the glass shelving although usure how to accomplish that.

I have seen many people, and have done this myself, put 4 to 5 maquettes per shelf with no problem. I wouldn't worry about just a few maquettes....now some statues like the Vader or Chewbacca I am not sure off.

Jeff, do you have to me a Hyperspace member? I went and looked and it shows $49.99

For $29 I would be all over this! I have wanted this fig for a while but couldn't afford it.

Did anybody order an Utapau Clone mini bust from Brian's Toys?

As it was mentioned, Brian's Toys took a bunch of orders for the orange clone bust and then when the clones came in, they suddenly told most people that they didn't get enough orange clones to fill their pre-orders. Most people think that due to Brian's Toys "questionable" practices, that they didn't want to let them go for the low price (compared to their current eBay prices) so they made this up to later sell at a price closer to the current eBay prices.

To these people whose order "they were not able to fill", they sent them a FREE white E3 Clone bust.

We are doing an informal poll across all major SW collecting sited to determine if "anybody" at all ever got an orange/Utapau Clone bust from them. It is the general consensus that Brian's Toys didn't actually ship any orange at all to any customers that ordered it. Please reply if you ordered an Utapau Clone bust from Brian's Toys with your outcome

I got a few ordered through SWShop and they have a pending authorization on my card for the exact amount. I also got a case coming from Most Wanted...nothing on that one yet.

Wanted to pass on the word....there is a new store in town.

 HERO HUNT COLLECTIBLES

It is run by a local friend of mine...and after much pulling teeth ;) he is offering an introductory price of 20% off most items......all of them I think. But most importantly, 20% off all Gentle Giant stuff.

I will personaly vouch for him.

Damn, that's nice.  It seems strange that they included Dengar, 4-LOM, and Bossk at the end - I thought they were simply rereleases in that Bounty Hunter box set.  Are they actually repaints (from what you can see in the pics)?

No, they're the same.

I could be wrong but I think the bases at least are a different color. I passed on the original Bounty Hunter wave but with them making IG and a new Fett, I will be getting this box set.

Ray Park was a guest at a local show in KNoxville, TN that I volunteer at (Adventure Con) and he did a little demo with a friend's Maul F/X saber...thought some might find this interesting

I was very tempted to get this piece...was floored when I saw it at TF 05 and at C3. Just had a hard time justifying the $450 tag with two newborns.

It is a truly breathtaking piece. Kudos to Sideshow.

Might still keep my Leia 1/4 scale one...a lot more affordable price.

I just really hope the final product looks as good as the prototype. Don't want to be suprised as the new owners of the 12" Anakin were when they got their 12" figures in.  :-[

I actually have never had problems canceling through them. Do it a lot since I place orders through them as back-ups.
