Vader Surveys The Damage
« on: December 13, 2003, 04:40 PM »
I've been learning a lot of techniques here and there on how to do better illustrations and such, and to help me along and keep my sanity through all of this - I decided to learn these techniques by drawing stuff besides the usual trees and posed models and such...
This 'lesson' was mostly about getting rid of outlines and actually drawing the shades...

I decided to draw one of my favorite scenes in Star Wars to practice this lesson. Here you have it, 'Vader Surverys The Damage' as he boards the Tantive... What I like about this scene is its resemblance to this image :

Anywho, note the black cloud as Vader makes his way down the hall... Because I was trying not to do outlines, I wasn't able to detail Vader's mask too much.

Absolutely awesome work there Brad.  God, I wish I could draw like that!  Interesting similarities with the Hitler pic there too...

Keep it up, and show us some more real soon!

I received my Christmas gift from Brad recently, it was a drawing of Vader. The drawing is even more realistic looking in person. Great work, I would say, though I am just a bastard. Brad has an obvious talent both digitally and first hand.

I urinate on this thread.

I don't have this peice anymore so I'm afraid I can't scan it.  :'(  I need to draw a much better one though, I'm really unhappy with Vader's mask.

Sounds like a good idea to me, Kevin - be sure to share pics. It's just too bad Hasbro hasn't given us a neutral Tantive Vader.

I see lots of similarity between WWII and Star Wars OT, though I prefer to ignore it for the most part.

Amazing work Brad, making my 'ignorance' that much more difficult to continue.

I retract my kind words, Ewok lover.  Is that fur sticking out of your shorts?

Kevin, you just cemented plans for me attending C3.  Where shall we meet :-*
